Silver Spirit - Voyage 5034
Oct 9-16, 2010
Read about the Silversea experience
I’m very much looking forward to my first culinary cruise as guest chef aboard Silversea to the Mediterranean in October of 2010. Experiencing the new Silver Spirit as part of its inaugural season will be a special treat.
The Mediterranean coast is such a beautiful area of the world with great food and fantastic wines (as well as wonderful wild mushrooms, game dishes and some of the best seafood in the world) that as many times as we’ve been, it’s always exciting to go back and discover new things and re-visit some old favorites. With a climate similar to ours in California it is fun to compare the culinary and wine specialties of the two.
I will start the journey on October 9 sailing from the Eternal City, Rome to the ports of Tuscany and the Pearl of the Riviera, Portofino, the glamour of Monte Carlo, the island of Corsica, and the melting pot of Marseille before arriving in vibrant Barcelona. Onboard I will showcase my culinary expertise and we will savor Tapas with Rioja in Spain, bouillabaisse with Rosè in the south of France, and the robust pastas and Chianti of Italy.
If you prefer an extended culinary journey, I encourage you to come early and begin your journey with my good friend, Chef Kurt Grasings on October 2 as he sails for 7 nights from the South of France to the laid-back, subtle beauties of the Italian Riviera, Tuscany, Cinque Terre, the stunning Amalfi Coast, and an overnight in Sorrento, you’ll have time to explore the Isle of Capri, Positano and Pompeii.
We will share our inventive culinary prowess using aromatic delicacies hosting cooking demonstrations, food and wine pairings and other events aboard the maiden season of the new, sleek, country club-like Silver Spirit, and exclusive Cruise member of Relais & Chateaux.
I encourage you to come early and spend a few days in Italy. Or extend your stay in vibrant Barcelona.
Buon Viaggio
